This month, meet Julie Goldstein. Julie has been with us for about 2 years now and is based out of Dynamic Yield’s office in New York City. She started as Office Manager and has since evolved into a People Operations Manager, where she works as part of the HR team to ensure that our employees’ needs are met on all levels, from healthcare and ongoing education to culture and beyond. She is dedicated to creating and improving the work-life experience at Dynamic Yield. Julie is a support system for the employees – someone they can talk to, trust, and approach for anything they may need.

Let’s learn more about her…

What’s your role at Dynamic Yield? What led you to the company, and what does your day-to-day look like?

My role as People Operations Manager is truly exciting. I feel fortunate that I get to work with every team, every manager, and every employee. This helps me foster and strengthen relationships with so many people that I respect, admire, and genuinely enjoy being around, all while growing my knowledge about the inner workings of the company.

Honestly, the incredible people are what led me to DY. When I interviewed almost 2 years ago, I felt immediate connections with everyone that I met; I truly look forward to and enjoy coming to work every day.

My day-to-day is never the same but can include: welcoming new employees, planning welfare projects and events, meetings with employees, and most recently, planning and organizing our upcoming NYC office move.

What’s the most exciting aspect of shaping a company’s culture? What do you look for in new team members?

The most exciting aspect of shaping a company’s culture is when I see employees enjoying themselves at company-organized events and when they are happy to be at work. It makes me feel like I’ve made a positive impact on their lives.

When it comes to new team members, we always look for excited and driven candidates – someone that can contribute to the evolving culture, someone collaborative, and someone who can handle and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

For those less familiar with the HR world, how would you describe your team’s mission? 

One of the main goals of our HR team is to provide a certain level of service to our employees, prioritizing hospitality and support. We aim to help foster strong, working relationships between managers and employees, ultimately promoting growth, progress, and employee satisfaction.

Who and/or what has contributed to your success during your tenure at Dynamic Yield? How has it left a lasting impact?

Quite frankly, everyone at the company I interact with has contributed to my success at DY. I started as Office Manager, so I was pretty detached from the HR aspects like benefits, compensation, and learning and development. The entire NYC team has been warm and welcoming to my transition and professional growth. Our leadership team, specifically our CEO and COO, have also been very supportive of my professional growth, as well as my direct manager, who has been an amazing mentor. That being said, the acceptance I have felt from Dynamic Yield has left an indelible mark on my career and professional development.

What’s the most rewarding and/or favorite part of your job?

Watching employees progress within their roles and navigate through obstacles with more confidence as they gain their footing is an amazing thing to witness. Everyone at our organization hustles and collaborates to find some level of fulfillment in their career, and being able to watch individuals grow, develop, and support one another makes my role all the more rewarding.

What’s something people might not know about you?

I have a culinary background, so I always get the best, trendiest food for our Friday lunches, holiday parties, and happy hours.

I am constantly trying to improve the culture whether it’s greeting everyone when they come to work in the morning, having decorations in the office or colorful emails, personally congratulating employees on milestone achievements, and more. Ultimately, I want to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and happy in our work environment.

What does your downtime look like? What are your favorite ways to spend your out-of-office time?

I love spending quality time with my favorite people – my nieces and nephews. Any warm weekend, you can likely find me at the beach. And because of my culinary background, I still spend a fair amount of time cooking. My one true love is pizza, which means I have to make up for it with a few Orangetheory Fitness classes a week. Last but not least, I consider myself a Bravo TV superfan and welcome any Real Housewives fanatics to our team.

If you could go back in time and tell your college self something about the professional world, what would it be?

Don’t take things personally – everyone has something going on in their own lives other than work, so just try to approach everyone with compassion. Also, remember: patience is a journey, not a destination.

What’s down the road for Julie Goldstein? What big professional or personal goals do you hope to accomplish at some point in your life?

Professionally, I want to continue to help Dynamic Yield be the best it can be in any way that I can – it’s such an exciting time for the company, especially as it continues to grow and scale at a healthy pace. Personally, I hope to travel more. My top destinations at the moment are Peru, Ecuador, Greece, and Tahiti. But I’d have to say that my biggest life goal is to own a home right on the beach in my favorite little coastal town in Maine. Doesn’t that sound nice?
